The ALKY additive is designed to increase lubrication of valve trains for methanol- and ethanol-powered cars. It reduces the corrosiveness of methanol and ethanol and in addition will reduce bore wash.
ALKY causes methanol to burn with a yellow-tipped flame, instead of a colourless flame if untreated. MSA race series now mandate the use of such an additive for safety reasons if using methanol.
