Finally available to the public, this product was made to solve reverse gear location differences with different model year B-Series AWD transmission housings when building with a billet bellhousing.

You can now use any year outer transmission housing with no issues!

The SpeedFactory Racing B-Series AWD Offset Reverse Shaft is needed if you are trying to use a mid '00-'01 PBW2 AWD B-Series Outer Transmission Housing with a billet bellhousing (all currently known billet bellhousings are PBW1 based) because the reverse gear ratio and shaft spacing was moved in the mid '00-'01 housings.

Our precision CNC machined Stainless Steel shaft will retain the correct reverse gear location for any FWD2AWD gearset conversions & aftermarket B-Series AWD gearsets. This retains full reverse gear tooth engagement and allows the later year outer housings to bolt up properly and is used with our in-house builds including the PPG 1-4 B-AWD Dog Gearset that includes it's own 3.076 ratio reverse.

For a more in-depth explanation, see below.

***SPECIAL NOTES: '98-'01 B-Series AWD CR-V Transmission Housing Variant Info***

There are 2 different reverse gear ratios in the B-Series AWD transmissions. Honda made some changes to the reverse gear & shaft location which will affect your transmission build when using a billet bellhousing with aftermarket gearsets.

This can be confusing so we will try to explain the differences here based on our findings having built many of them with all different year housings.

Major Takeaway: PBW1 or PBW2 stamping on bellhousing does not matter. The year is what matters. Why?

’98 -’99 housings are stamped PBW1. These had a 3.000 reverse gear same as FWD B-Series.

If using a ’98 -‘99 outer transmission case that had a straight reverse shaft with the SFR Billet Bellhousing you are good to assemble with the original straight reverse shaft.

’00 housings are stamped PBW2 and can be confusing as they aren’t all the same during this year. Honda changed to a 3.461 reverse gear this year which required the reverse gear location to be moved. Some ’00 PBW2 housings are the same as the ’98 -‘99 and used an offset reverse shaft with bushing on the bellhousing side (different from the SFR shaft) to accommodate the 3.461 reverse gear and move it farther away from the gear stacks. In later ’00 PBW2 housings Honda actually moved the reverse shaft locating holes to accommodate the 3.461 reverse gear eliminating the need for the oddball shaft and allowing them to go back to using a straight reverse shaft like the '98-'99 PBW1 transmissions.

If using an ’00 outer transmission case that had an offset reverse shaft with the SFR Billet Bellhousing you will need to use the straight reverse shaft (Honda PN#23261-PX5-A00) which was used in ’98, ’99, and ’01 to properly locate the reverse idler gear and for the cases to close properly.

If using an ’00 outer transmission case that had a straight reverse shaft with the SFR Billet Bellhousing then you will need our custom offset reverse shaft PN# SF-05-601-RS to properly locate the reverse idler gear and for the cases to close properly.

’01 housings are stamped PBW2 and have the reverse shaft location that was moved to accommodate the 3.461 reverse and use the same straight reverse shaft that was used in ’98 -’99.

If using an ’01 outer transmission case with the SFR Billet Bellhousing you will need our custom offset reverse shaft PN# SF-05-601-RS to properly locate the reverse idler gear and for the cases to close properly.

While this write-up is specific to building with a billet bellhousing, you should be able to figure out what is needed for any combination of B-AWD housings and gearsets with this information!
